SHORT DEBRIEFING

Thanks to the efforts of Andrew Leask, who was the local organizer of the meeting

and Annick Perbal, our administrative assistant, the meeting at Niagara Falls was a real success.

The Niagara Falls meeting was opened by a significant presentation of a variety of new fundamental aspects of CCN protein biology leading to a better understanding of functional dysregulations responsible for pathological conditions.

We would like to thank again our invited speakers for delivering a thorough review of the exosome field in cancer and providing the ground for extended collaborations and future meeting topics.

We were honored to have among us Professor Cynthia Kenyon, the 7th recipient of our ICCNS-Springer award, who delivered a thoughtful presentation of the aging processes that cannot be ignored by members of our society.

Not only was the presentation of C. Kenyon at an outstanding scientific level, it was also a great lesson into humanity for the attendees of this meeting. No doubt that this will remain for a long time in the minds of everybody who attended her presentation.

Considering that some of the CCN proteins are the targets of new therapeutic approaches, and taking into account that the CCN acronym became officially accepted in 2019 by the HUGO committee, we felt that it was time to inject some fresh blood into our society.
During all these past years, the international workshops organized by the ICCNS have helped the maturation and reorientation of its aims and goals.
The reorganization of the ICCNS, that was first outlined by Bernard Perbal during our general meeting at Niagara Falls, is now taking place.

This reorganization will be the matter for a more detailed presentation, as soon as steps along the new organization of the Society will be up and running.

We wish to welcome the members of the new ICCNS Advisory Scientific Board :

Masaharu TAKIGAWA, President, Havard ATTRAMADAL, Rob BAXTER, Brahim CHAQOUR,

Celina KLEER, Zhiyong LIN, Kunimasa OTHA, Lynn POSTOVIT, and Katia SCOTLANDI.

and ICCNS Council:

Gary FISHER, Roel GOLDSCHMEDING, Philip TRACKMAN, Stephen TWIGG, and Herman YEGER.

Andrew LEASK and Satoshi KUBOTA are statutory members of both administrative organs.

As a reminder, we expect a « brain storming » meeting to be held in 2020

followed by a regular ICCNS meeting in 2022.
